Kim Hyun-soo Clinic Hosts the 2nd Stem Cell Experts Roundtable

The “2nd Stem Cell Specialists’ Roundtable,” organized by the Kim Hyun-soo Clinic, was held on the 21st in the clinic’s main conference room.

Kim Hyun-soo Clinic also held this roundtable last year to share information on stem cell therapy by inviting specialists who treat patients with stem cell therapies in actual clinical settings, organized by disease category.

The roundtable focused on case studies of stem cell therapy for liver cirrhosis.

Professor Baek Soon-gu of Yonsei University Wonju Severance Christian Hospital has led Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials using stem cell therapies developed by the stem cell specialist company Pamcell and has published the results of these studies in international journals.

His paper is widely recognized by global experts in the field for having elevated stem cell therapy to the status of a mainstream treatment by providing highly concrete evidence of its efficacy through liver tissue biopsies taken before and after treatment.

Professor Baek Soon-gu stated, “Cytokines and various growth factors secreted by stem cells increase the survival of damaged liver cells and accelerate the generation of new cells,” adding “Stem cells improve liver function both histologically and biochemically, such as by reducing liver fibrosis and increasing serum albumin levels,” he added.

The Kim Hyun-soo Clinic plans to institutionalize these seminars by holding them six times a year starting this year, with the aim of identifying and inviting more experts.
